Professor role

Professorial posts are held by staff who have made an outstanding, distinguished contribution to teaching and scholarship, evidenced by an established national and international reputation, initiative and leadership.

In addition to the requirements at Grade 8, you will:

Teaching and the promotion of learning

  • Lead development of a subject area within or across departments

Management and leadership

  • Significant responsibility for a range of curricula
  • Contribute substantially to the development of the academic policies of the institution, including strategies for teaching, learning and quality assurance

Involvement in scholarship and development

  • Promote research into teaching and learning, and disseminate best practice within and outside the institution
  • Lead bids for funding to support teaching and scholarship at departmental or institutional level
  • Disseminate academic scholarship to the wider public.

For staff involved in professional education and training

  • Evidence of highly successful engagement with external stakeholders
    Evidence of high esteem among external stakeholders
  • Evidence of excellence and innovation in development and delivery of professional programmes.
