Academic staff are recognised according to their level of achievement in three core areas of work.

These three areas are:

1. research and scholarship
2. teaching and the promotion of learning
3. other forms of service, particularly leadership or administrative responsibilities

Each year staff can apply to the Academic Promotions Committee for advancement.
