Staff whose work is all or mostly during the night should be offered an annual health assessment to assess any impact of health and wellbeing.

The process is the same for health screening for new employees but these subsequent offers are optional. The offer of a health screening appointment should be offered every year from their start date.

Manager guidance

Managers should offer the option of a health assessment and keep a record of these offers. If a staff member wishes to take up this offer the manager should contact occupational-health@york.ac.uk to request a repeat night worker assessment and arrangements will be made for completion of the appropriate manager and employee forms. As with the standard health screening process, both forms will be required in order for Occupational Health to progress the assessment.

Once the forms are received, Occupational Health will assess any support needs and seek to advise as per the standard Health Screening Process.
