University of York students present their research at sustainability conference in Leeds
Read about last week’s Student Sustainability Research Conference at the University of Leeds.
On Wednesday 6 March, we attended the annual Student Sustainability Research Conference (SSRC24) at the University of Leeds. The day was packed with brilliant research projects presented by student speakers from across 11 Yorkshire institutions, all presenting on important topics relating to sustainability. We also enjoyed 60+ academic posters exhibited in Parkinson Court featuring a wide-range of student work.
We were particularly pleased to support presentations and workshops delivered by students from the University of York, including:
Rebecca Lait (PhD student) - presenting her research on the role of power dynamics in the meat and livestock industry.
Prasad Sandbhor (PhD student) - delivering an interactive workshop which explored games as tools for sense making in the context of climate action and young adults.
Rebecca Shepherd (PhD student) - presenting her research on gender responsive climate adaptation policy.
Abigail Brown, Heather Newman, Ellie Robbins, Jackson Conway, Kirstie McMaster (a team of final year undergraduate students) - presenting their sustainability clinic project helping a York primary school develop an eco-council.
Sarah Foster (PhD student) - presenting her research on the role of art interventions in sustainability and climate change education.
Fran File (MSc student) - delivering an interactive workshop exploring the Climate Venn Diagram as a method of environmental education and communication.
A huge well done to everyone who presented at the conference, along with those who contributed to the poster exhibition. In particular, congratulations to Prasad Sandbhor who received an award for his poster under the category “Quality Education”.
