Tasmiyah Khanum, a 3rd Year Biomedical Sciences student, has just completed her internship with Environmental Sustainability at York (ESAY), looking specifically at the demand for Green Skills in the business sector. We asked Tasmiyah to share more about her ESAY internship.
What did your internship involve?
My internship involved investigating the business demands and challenges around Green Skills CPD training. This was done by conducting literature reviews of industrial green skills reports, interviewing key stakeholders from various businesses and creating a survey for businesses in York to help increase engagement. I then collated my research into a report and presented my findings to the ESAY and CPD team.
What did you learn from this experience?
When businesses did not respond to interview invites, I learned to be creative and adaptive with my research. I also developed my interpersonal skills when conducting the interviews as I had to be confident and attentive to effectively gather all the necessary information. I also learned how to successfully create a survey using Formstack.
Thanks for your help with our Green Skills scoping project, Tasmiyah, and wishing you all the best with your future endeavours!
