News | Posted on Thursday 11 May 2023

The annual European Doctoral Summer School will take place week 19-23 June 2023, and this year's theme will focus on sustainability.

Are you a doctoral candidate looking for an opportunity to enhance your skills, expand your network, and boost your career prospects? If so, the European Doctoral Summer School may be just what you need. This annual event, organised by the University of York, University of Munster, and Maastricht University, offers a unique opportunity for doctoral candidates to work with colleagues from different institutions and cultural backgrounds.

The summer school will take place on the week commencing Monday 19 June 2023. It offers doctoral candidates an opportunity to consider how to maximise your strengths, skills, career prospects and self-confidence. The programme is designed to enable you to learn how to build sustainability into your research, career and leadership.

This year's theme: Sustainability in research, careers and leadership

As researchers, we have the power to define problems, offer interpretations and find solutions. However, we must also recognise the limitations on resources that we face. Sustainability is an issue that affects every aspect of our lives, and as researchers, we have a responsibility to build sustainable practices into our work.

The theme for the 2023 European Doctoral Summer School is "Sustainability in research, careers and leadership". This theme reflects the need for sustainable practices across all aspects of our work as researchers. During the summer school, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues from different disciplines and institutions to explore how to build sustainability into your research, career and leadership.

Throughout the Summer School, colleagues from each of the three partner universities will offer support and guidance. You will work in groups with researchers across disciplines and institutions to explore the ways in which you can build sustainability into your research, career and leadership.

The European Doctoral Summer School is open to doctoral researchers from all disciplines at the universities of Munster, Maastricht and York. If you are interested in attending, you can contact events.gc@uni-muenster.de or visit the link below to find out more and apply.
