Learn and be inspired by student-led research from across the Yorkshire region!

Hosted annually at the University of Leeds, the Student Sustainability Research Conference (SSRC) offers students across all levels and disciplines from 12 member institutions of Yorkshire Universities the opportunity to be inspired, share their sustainability-related research and learn from their student peers from across the region in a professional conference setting.

The conference provides a unique opportunity for students, staff, partners, collaborators and members of the public to appreciate the breadth and diversity of student sustainability research across all levels of study. With research presented across a range of disciplines, the conference brings together creative expressions and scientific investigation to demonstrate the holistic nature of sustainability.

How can I take part in SSRC?

There are two ways that you can participate in the Student Sustainability Research Conference each year, which includes showcasing your work, or attending:

Present your work

If you're an undergraduate or postgraduate student at the University of York, you’re invited to showcase your sustainability-related research or project at the conference. Your work should connect to one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and can be shared in any format—whether a presentation, exhibition, workshop, performance, or poster (applications to present open in November each year).

Attend the conference

All staff and students at the University of York can come along to the conference, free of charge. You'll experience presentations, workshops, performances and art installations from students across Yorkshire and the Humber. Tickets are first-come, first served. A free bus is provided to/from York for those who wish to attend and need transport; spaces are limited (tickets to attend are available in January each year).
