Tell us a bit about your background

I’m a first-generation university student commuting from an ex-mining village in South Yorkshire. I worked as a secondary school and sixth form college teacher before returning back to education.

Why did you want to get involved with the Student Expert Panel?

I wanted to get involved with the Student Expert Panel to make sure that students from low socio-economic backgrounds, mature students and commuter students were represented within university decision making.

What are you involved with at York, and what are you interested in outside of your studies?

Outside of my studies and being the academic representative for my course, I enjoy travelling [when I can!], baking, spending time with my two cats and attending my local pub’s weekly quiz (although we usually come last!)
