Rebecca Clark

I’m the Head of Access and Outreach and my role is to lead the strategic direction of widening access at the University. My main priority is to develop a more inclusive and diverse community at the University of York with a particular focus on race, ethnicity and culture. Both personally, and in my career, I take very seriously my responsibility to vocally and proactively support and further anti-racism movements, to challenge my own bias and to be an active ally in any and all instances. In my work, this involves driving forward the development of new, innovative programmes that will support people from all Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds. My role also involves supporting efforts to develop a more inclusive environment that welcomes people from all backgrounds and enables all to excel and succeed. I feel grateful to be a part of an anti-racist organisation that takes seriously its responsibility to walk the talk. In my view, the RECG takes responsibility for ensuring we do in fact do this and we will ensure senior leaders, alongside the entire student and staff body, take their share of the responsibility too.
