Reports by or about members of Hull York Medical School
The administration of some procedures differs slightly for complaints concerning Hull York Medical School students and staff because of the nature of HYMS’ relationship with the University of Hull and other partner bodies (such as the NHS), and the need to consider issues around Fitness to Practise.
Procedures where reporting or reported people are members of Hull York Medical School (HYMS)
Information for HYMS students can be found :
- On the HYMS-specific Support web page which outlines the sorts of support HYMS students can access within HYMS and contains links to the HYMS Report and Support Tool
- Within the HYMS Dignity at Work and Study Policy which outlines specific procedures and arrangements for HYMS students
Making reports
There are two Report and Support portals at the University one for the University of York (UoY) and one for Hull York Medical School:
The University of York Report and Support portal should be used for:
- Any staff member to raise concerns about the conduct of any staff member (regardless of whether the reporting or reported people are UoY or HYMS)
- UoY staff to raise concerns about any student.
- UoY students to raise concerns about the conduct of any staff member or student.
The Hull York Medical School Report and Support portal should be used for:
- Any HYMS student to raise concerns about anyone in the University (staff or student, whether in HYMS or elsewhere in the University of York).
- HYMS staff to raise concerns about HYMS students.
If the incorrect route were to be used for any report, then the report would be sent to the correct team.

We've put together this flowchart to illustrate the procedure described above: there's also a Google slide version available.
