Student Administration

Team responsibilities:

  • Policies and administrative infrastructure and processes that support both taught and research student academic progress.
  • Coordinating the specific requirements of our sponsorship of international students and the team disbursing a range of student funding including bursaries.
  • Ensuring that student data is accurate and delivered appropriately.

Student Systems

Head of Student Systems: Rob McCarthy (rob.mccarthy@york.ac.uk)

Team responsibilities: 

  • Maintenance and development of the student records database (SITS) and its web interface, e:vision.
  • Management of SITS integrations with other University business systems such as Check In, MyTimetable and Agresso and third parties such as Gradintel, SkillsForge, Higher education partners and Kaplan.

Student Success

Head of Student Success: Jan Ball-Smith (jan.ball@york.ac.uk)

Team responsibilities:

  • Works closely with other teams contributing to Student Success across the directorate/university.  
  • Leads on whole institution interventions as part of the Access and Participation Plan (APP).
  •  Creating a new area with a focus on Student Success, aligned to the APP.

Careers and Placements

  • Working with students, academic departments and employers to ensure that students are prepared to take their next steps once they have completed their studies.

York Online Partnerships

Head of York Online Partnerships: Zoe Devlin (zoe.devlin@york.ac.uk)

Team responsibilities:

  • Providing administrative support and advice to academic staff and students on the York Online programmes.
