Katie Ritchie

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Administrator, Research and Knowledge Exchange (RIKE)

Equality Champion since 2024

While I am very new to the EDI Champion network, I am inspired by how the network thrives on advocating for an inclusive and diverse society by instilling positive change across departments at the University of York. Being an EDI Champion allows me to combine my passion for diversity, equality and inclusion with my day-to-day role, and empowers me to continually develop my own knowledge and to tackle issues of social injustice, both at the university and in everyday life.

It is also hugely encouraging to be a part of a large network of EDI Champions who share the same passion for positive social and societal change, and who have a wealth of experience and knowledge that they are so keen to share. The network is extremely supportive, and provides many opportunities for all staff to develop and share their knowledge, and to promote good practice in equality, diversity and inclusion.

I am also conscious that there is always work to be done, and in coming together and sharing our own insights, we can all help to foster a community in which all individuals feel respected, welcomed and supported. With this in mind, I strongly recommend becoming an EDI Champion.

You can contact me, or any other Equality Champion, about how to get involved in equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives, learn more about EDI policy and practice, or discuss general EDI issues.
