How do I apply?

The current process for applying and signing up for casual roles is simple. You just need to:

  • Visit the Casual Worker System, Dashboard and click register as a worker
  • Once you complete the worker registration page, you will be sent an email to activate your account
  • Some data is mandatory (eg. personal details and bank details etc) and you must confirm that you accept the terms of conditions of engagement. YCL’s casual agreement is separate to the University of York’s so please ensure you read all versions thoroughly
  • Once you have completed the mandatory fields your account will be sent to the Casual Worker team to review
  • If you have any problems accessing the system or any questions regarding your account, please contact the University of York’s Casual Workers team on casual-workers@york.ac.uk or 01904 326389.

Once you have registered as a worker, completed all the necessary sections and had your account reviewed, you will be required to complete a ‘Right to Work’ check. This means you will need to go to central University of York HR to show their Casual Workers Team a valid passport or relevant documents  proving you have the right to work in the UK. They will send you an email inviting you to attend.

Some posts may require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and you will be informed of this at the application stage. The process for undertaking the check  will require you to visit YCL HR to undertake a DBS check to start your application. This can be arranged by emailing ycl-hradmin@york.ac.uk

If you are currently a student on a Student Visa, you can still apply for casual roles and may still be eligible for casual shifts. If this applies to you, please get in touch with YCL HR directly to discuss your opportunities.

If you have any queries regarding roles please contact YCL HR on ycl-hradmin@york.ac.uk or 01904 328413.
