Workshops

We offer a range of interactive maths and statistics workshops to help develop your skills in key areas.

Explore workshop content below, and find session dates and book on the workshop calendar.

Maths workshops

Access workshop materials any time on the Numerical reasoning resources page of the Maths Skills Centre Practical Guide.

During this workshop we will explore how to answer typical numerical reasoning test questions and point you to some useful resources. This will be a hands-on session involving you having a go at actual questions from up-to-date employer tests used for graduate recruitment, with practical methods for solving problems in the quickest way.

We will also introduce you to AssessmentDay, with free practice tests with full solutions.

This extension session will focus on preparing you for the hardest questions that numerical reasoning tests may include. You will be invited to have a go at these questions, and we will go over general strategies and time-saving techniques that will make them feel more manageable.

This workshop is suitable for those who have attended the first session, or those with a good grasp of the numerical techniques required for tackling typical numerical reasoning tests. We will also introduce you to AssessmentDay, with free practice tests with full solutions.

Statistics workshops

Access workshop materials any time on the Statistics resources page of the Maths Skills Centre Practical Guide.

This free workshop is for you if learning statistics is part of your course but you’re unsure of the subject. It will provide a space to explore your experiences and anxieties of learning statistics and discover how successful students overcome anxiety. All the facilitators regularly coach students who find statistics difficult and will share strategies they have used effectively with other students to help them reduce anxiety and progress with their learning of statistics.

You will not need to do any statistics in the session. Check out our other workshops if you want to learn the basics of statistics, SPSS or R.

Knowing what statistical test to use can be difficult. This workshop uses a variety of data to reveal what you need to consider in order to choose a test. We will then use a Which Stats Test tool to identify the best tests to use. Suitable for anyone who will be analysing data using statistical tests for research or a dissertation.
