Information for Departments

For general queries about Academic Misconduct please email academic-misconduct@york.ac.uk

Reporting a case (new for 2024/5): To report suspected academic misconduct, a member of staff from the department must first refer the case to the departmental administration team who will contact the departmental StAMP members to decide if there is a case to answer. If the departmental StAMP members decide there is a case to answer departmental administrators should then:

  1. Click on the Google template link below - this will generate a copy of the template; complete section 1 of the template.
  2. Change the title of the document to include the name of department and student's Examination Number or Student number;
  3. Share the document with academic-misconduct-group@york.ac.uk (make them editors of the document) but uncheck the notify people box - this provides the team with access to the document;
  4. Email academic-misconduct@york.ac.uk including the link to the Google Document and any supporting evidence (it is important to send the email rather than just sharing the document as emails create a better paper trail, and you can see that it has been sent). Please state who the departmental chair should be/who has reviewed the case.
  5. For cases where there is more than one student involved (eg collusion), then two case documents will need to be submitted.
